K1 Children embarked on a project that enabled them to show care and bring joy and hope to the patient in the National Kidney Foundation (NKF)- Bedok Dialysis Centre.
The Project was launched on 20 March 2021, via zoom with the children and their parents. Ms Ginni, the NKF representative, was the guest speaker. It was an informative and interactive session, where children and parents learned more about healthy living. She also shared the importance of Kidney Health, its prevention measures and the treatments for dialysis patients.
The children’s learning journey begun with learning more about eating healthy. They prepared and made Tuna sandwiches, Yogurt-Fruit Salad and Muffins for snacks.
Next, our children learnt that they could express and share their thoughts and feelings through art and crafts. They made bookmarks for the dialysis patients.
Due to COVID Safety Measures, the children were unable to visit the patients weekly. Hence, after a brainstorming session, the children decided to prepare a gift pack to cheer the patient.
We want to take this opportunity to thank all our parents for their direct or indirect help in this Project. Special gratitude to our Parent-Class Reps, Mrs Chong and Mrs Sidik, who coordinated with the rest of the parents to purchased the followings items – face masks, sleep masks, neck pillows and tote bags as the gift pack for the dialysis patients.
Our children and the staff worked together to decorate each tote bag and carefully put each item inside. In addition, the K1 children did a pre-recorded performance to cheer the aunties and uncles. Please visit our Facebook to enjoy our performance.
On 28 May 2021, a total of 114 packed gift packs were delivered to Bedok Dialysis Center for the Dialysis Patients, and we ended our Project.
Lastly, we would like to thanks the SSDB, NKF and our dearest parents for their support in this meaningful Project for our children.
